How this hourly salary calculator works

The calculator multiplies your hourly wage by the number of hours worked per week to estimate weekly gross pay. Weekly pay is then multiplied by your paid working weeks to calculate estimated annual earnings.

Annual salary is divided into monthly and biweekly estimates so you can compare income across different pay periods. The selected currency determines how the salary values are displayed.

Changing the currency does not convert the amount using an exchange rate. Enter the hourly rate directly in the currency in which you are paid.

Hourly wage to salary formulas

Weekly pay formula

Weekly pay = Hourly rate × Hours per week

Annual salary formula

Annual pay = Weekly pay × Weeks per year

Monthly salary formula

Monthly pay = Annual pay ÷ 12

Biweekly pay formula

Biweekly pay = Weekly pay × 2

How to calculate annual salary from hourly pay

To convert hourly pay to annual salary, multiply your hourly wage by the number of hours you normally work each week. This produces your estimated weekly gross pay. Multiply weekly pay by the number of paid weeks you work during the year.

The method can be used for full-time, part-time, seasonal, freelance, and contract schedules. For a useful estimate, enter realistic weekly hours and exclude weeks for which you do not expect to be paid.

Weekly, biweekly, monthly, and annual pay explained

Weekly pay represents one week of gross earnings. Biweekly pay represents two weeks and is commonly used by employers that process payroll every other week. Monthly pay is the annual estimate divided by 12.

Annual salary provides a broader estimate for comparing job offers, planning savings, evaluating affordability, or understanding the long-term effect of changes in hourly wage and working hours.

Gross salary vs net take-home pay

Gross salary is the amount earned before taxes and other deductions. Net pay, also called take-home pay, is the amount remaining after applicable taxes, insurance, pension payments, retirement contributions, and other payroll deductions.

This calculator estimates gross pay. Actual take-home income depends on your country, tax status, benefits, deductions, and payroll arrangements.

When to use an hourly to salary calculator

An hourly salary calculator is useful when comparing job offers, estimating part-time earnings, evaluating a schedule change, converting freelance rates, or planning monthly income from an hourly wage.

It can also help hourly workers, students, contractors, freelancers, and job seekers compare different combinations of currency, hourly rate, weekly hours, and annual working weeks.

Salary calculator assumptions and limitations

The result assumes that the hourly rate and entered work schedule remain consistent. It does not automatically include overtime rates, bonuses, commissions, tips, holiday pay, paid leave, unpaid leave, or irregular working hours.

The calculator also does not estimate taxes, payroll deductions, or exchange rates. Use the result as a planning estimate and review your employment agreement or payslip for exact pay information.
